'samtang naghulat ko nga maakoa ka...' has been officially selected as part of Sentro Rizal Film Club, a special program curated by Bakunawa Fest XI.

This initiative launches the online screening series of Bakunawa Fest XI, honoring Filipino artistry by presenting fantastic Filipino films to global audiences through Sentro Rizal hubs worldwide.

✨ Last September 12, the VSU Market turned into a home for stories, as Silakbo proudly staged “𝗠𝗴𝗮 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗟𝗲𝘆𝘁𝗲: 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗲𝘆𝘁𝗲ñ𝗼 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺𝘀” featuring seven of the region’s finest works.

The night proved that even in the heaviest rains, cinema finds its audience. Each film screened was a story, and especially a memory... 𝗮 𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗲𝘆𝘁𝗲ñ𝗼 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻.

SILAKBO - Baybay Film Organization and Small Treehouse proudly present “𝑴𝑮𝑨 𝑺𝑨𝑳𝑰𝑫𝑨 𝑺𝑨 𝑳𝑬𝒀𝑻𝑬: 𝑭𝒊𝒍𝒎 𝑬𝒙𝒉𝒊𝒃𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝑳𝒆𝒚𝒕𝒆ñ𝒐 𝑭𝒊𝒍𝒎𝒔”, featuring seven of the most prominent films from Leyte.

As the nation celebrates this year’s Philippine Industry Month, we take this opportunity to highlight a sobering contrast: the near-total absence of a film scene here in our region of Eastern Visayas and in our own province of Leyte.

And yet, these films—created by Leyteño filmmakers—prove that our land is rich with stories waiting to be heard and seen, and with creatives whose work deserves recognition and a wider audience.

Through these films, we aim to amplify regional storytelling, showcase local talent, and create a space where audiences can engage with cinema that reflects our roots and identities. Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate the power of films that come from home, for home.
