Aklan Gov't names former ASU professor as Most Outstanding Aklanon 2026

Honoring decades of excellence and service in education, the Aklan Provincial Government, led by Governor Jose Enrique M. Miraflores, officially recognized Dr. Ersyl T. Biray as one of the Most Outstanding Aklanons (MOA) of 2026.

The prestigious award was conferred during a commemorative ceremony at the Aklan Provincial Capitol during the 70th Founding Anniversary celebrations on April 25.

Currently affiliated with Aklan State University (ASU), where he previously served as the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Biray has been a cornerstone of the province’s intellectual community.

His influence extends to Northwestern Visayan Colleges and Aklan Catholic College, where he has been instrumental in strengthening graduate education and research development.

"It fulfills me to see Aklanon teachers and students shine not only in the regional and national arenas but, more so, in international events," Dr. Biray stated in an interview.

In his message to his fellow Aklanons, Dr. Biray emphasized that education remains the key to lifelong growth.

“Let us continue to value education while preserving the traditions that make our province unique,” he urged. “May we support one another in building communities rooted in compassion, integrity, and service.”

The Most Outstanding Aklanon Award is the highest honor given by the Provincial Government to individuals who demonstrate exceptional achievement and leadership.

Celebrating the 108th Founding Anniversary and 25th Charter Day Silver Anniversary of ASU!

The AREA VII-Library, chaired by Mrs. Bliss G. Magdael together with the dedicated library personnel, was honored as one of the recipients of the Outstanding QA Contributor Award.

In addition, Ms. Jillie Ellaine Toriaga was also recognized with the same distinction for her role as one of the Internal Quality Auditors.

These achievements reflect the unwavering commitment of the ASU community to quality, service, and continuous improvement.
