Organizing and Activating Breastfeeding Support Groups for Improved Maternal and Child Health

"A gift that lasts a lifetime! "

LGU-Balud, under the leadership of the Municipal Mayor Hon. Rodolfo O. Estrella, Jr. and through the initiative of the Municipal Nutrition Office, conducted a training in Organizing and Activating Breastfeesing Support Groups on June 19, 2026, at the Municipal Covered Court, Poblacion Balud Masbate.

This activity brought together health workers, community leaders and Punong Barangays to encourage, protect, empower and support breastfeeding.
With the strong commitment of every participants, we can build healthier families in the community and giving every child the best start in life.

Before the participants went home, the Quarterly HCSC profiling incentives were released to CVWs.

Enhancing Interpersonal and Communication Skills for Health Workers

LGU-Balud, under the leadership of the Municipal Mayor Hon. Rodolfo O. Estrella, Jr. and through the initiative of the Municipal Nutrition Office, conducted a Training on Interpersonal and Communition Skills for Health Workers last June 18, 2026 at the SB Hall, Municipal Bldg.

Our Health workers, the BNSs and BHWs, play a vital role in promoting health and providing quality services to the community. Through this training on Interpersonal and Communication Skills, participants enhanced their ability to communicate effectively, build trust, and foster positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders. This training aimed to strengthen patient-centered care and improve health outcomes through better communication practices.

The participants gained these knowledge from the fruitful discussions of our esteemed resource persons Ms. Fiorella Chang Vidal-Degala-RHU Nurse III and Sir John Paul Alob-NDP Nurse II.
Ms. Jemyla Cabarles was also formally introduced as our DOH-deployed Nutritionist Dietitian. She had a brief updates on OPT-DQC.

The event ended successfully.

Strengthening Program Implementation Through Supportive Supervision
June 15-16, 2026

The Regional Supportive Supervision Team of the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP), paid a courtesy call and visit to the municipality of Balud.

Municipal Mayor Hon. Rodolfo O. Estrella, Jr. ardently welcomed the team and renewed its commitment to a stronger partnership with PMNP.

The activity aimed also to strengthen program implementation, identify best practices, address challenges, and enhance the delivery of health and nutrition services in the community.

PMNP National Mayors Forum 2026
