June 1, 2026, as we mark Dengue Awareness Month, Argao gathered for a meaningful activity that perfectly blended the spirit of Brigada Eskwela with our shared commitment to health and safety.
The program started with an informative discussion led by the Rural Health Unit (RHU) team by sharing vital knowledge about dengue—from its signs and symptoms to practical ways of prevention—reminding everyone that being informed is the best way to stay protected.
Right after the talk, RHU personnel, our dedicated Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), and assigned DepEd representatives grouped into three teams. Hand in hand, they went around the school grounds to conduct a thorough inspection and carry out the “Search and Destroy” campaign. Every corner was checked, stagnant water cleared, and potential mosquito breeding sites removed—ensuring that our school premises are clean and safe for everyone.
To wrap up the activity, a feedback session as done at the Principal’s Office for insights, observations, and recommendations. These were shared openly, ensuring that necessary steps and improvements are documented and acted upon for the benefit of the learners, teachers, and the whole school community.
It was truly heartwarming to witness health workers, educators, and community members working side by side with one goal: to prepare not just clean classrooms, but a healthy and safe environment where every child can learn, grow, and thrive.

The Argao Rural Health Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Education, and with the support of the Local Government Unit of Argao and the Department of Health will celebrate Dengue Awareness Month by actively participating in Brigada Eskwela 2026 on June 1, 2026, Monday!

This joint initiative brings together health workers, educators, parents, volunteers, and community members for a common goal: to prepare safe, clean, and mosquito-free learning environments for our students. ✨

Together, we will conduct:
✅ School-wide clean-up drives to eliminate possible mosquito breeding sites
✅ Distribution of educational materials about dengue prevention and control
✅ Information sessions on simple yet effective ways to keep our surroundings safe and healthy

Due to the increasing number of recorded mental health concerns among residents in the upland barangays, our monthly Mental Health Clinic Consultation this month will be held at Mompeller Elementary School, Argao at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon, May 22, 2026 (Friday). This aims to bring care and support to those who need it most.

The mental clinic is still open to all Argaoanons who can travel to the new designated venue for this month. We humbly ask for everyone’s kind understanding, especially those who may be affected by this adjustment.

In support of World Immunization Week with the theme, “For every generation, vaccines work,” the Municipality of Argao, through its Rural Health Unit, proudly joins the celebration in line with the National Immunization Program Microplanning Workshop. This initiative serves as an opportunity to engage, celebrate, and raise awareness on the importance of immunization, in collaboration with representatives from the 15 barangays and NIP coordinators from Department of Health,Central Visayas.

The 3-Day National Immunization Program Workshop and Inception Meeting was successfully conducted with the participation of representatives from 15 barangays; Balisong,Binlod,Bogo,Bulasa,Canbanua,Casay,Jampang,Guiwanon,Langtad,Lamacan,Poblacion,Talaga,Talaytay,Talo-ot, and Tulic.

During the workshop,participants reviewed their immunization coverage ,identified gaps, and proposed targeted strategies to reach defaulters and underserved populations in their puroks or sitios. The active engagement of all 15 barangays ensured that context specific challenges were addressed and practical, data-driven plans were developed and will be lobbied to the brgy.council and community to improve immunization coverage in their respective communities.

The activity aimed to strengthen local immunization strategies through the development and refinement of barangay level microplans aligned with national guidelines.
