JUST IN: 𝐍𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐦 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐒𝐏𝐂 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠

BALER, AURORA — Demonstrating a sharp eye for detail and a sophisticated flair for storytelling, Ningning's Chloe Nocum captured 6th place in Pagsulat ng Balita (Secondary level) during the 2026 Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC).

The official results were confirmed via Regional Memorandum No. 090, S. 2026, released by the Department of Education (DepEd) Region 3 and the RSPC committee last April 2, 2026, following the three-day intensive competition held from March 18 to 20.

With the guidance of her coach, Ms. Patricia Maristhele Alfonso, Nocum was able to master her craft in news writing ; hence, besting 58 other competitors in the category.

For Nocum, the 6th-place finish not only brings pride to Malabanias Integrated School (MIS) and Division of Angeles but also solidified her reputation as one of the premier young news writers in Region 3.

To note, she was added to the roster of winners of MIS for this year’s RSPC. Along with her are the 5th Placers in the Collaborative Desktop Publishing Category, consisting of James Dauz (G12), Jayeslee Camposano (G7), Nicole Belmonte (G9), Ronamae Goodale (G10), Rihanna Reese Pusa (G7), Dhenziel Jhaydha Orosco (G9), and Mary Tina Bagwan (G12), with coaches Enrie Nicdao and Cherish Herradura.

𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝘂𝗿𝗮 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗿𝗮! --𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮𝘀 𝗜𝗦 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗥𝗦𝗣𝗖), 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗸𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗖𝗗𝗣) 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝘆, 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟭𝟴-𝟮𝟬 𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗩 𝗠𝗶𝗷𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿, 𝗔𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗿𝗮.

The winning team was consisted of James Dauz (G12), Jayeslee Camposano (G7), Nicole Belmonte (G9), Ronamae Goodale (G10), Rihanna Reese Pusa (G7), Dhenziel Jhaydha Orosco (G9), and Mary Tina Bagwan (G12). They were guided by coaches Enrie Nicdao and Cherish Herradura. The school also congratulated participants in the Individual Categories for their efforts during the competition.

Reflecting on their achievement, James Dauz, one of the team’s key members, said that unity was the key in CDP.

"Our teamwork and harmony with each other were the keys. I think that’s what helped us win," Dauz said.

He also added that their success in the process made their win extra sweet.

"The best part was when we finished printing our work on time, and felt confident about it, whether we will win or not," Dauz added.

Meanwhile, for Enrie Nicdao, one of the coaches, the historic win truly reflected what the school has to offer to the region.

"I am happy that our efforts were finally paid off. We prepared for this for a long time, knowing that the competition would be ‘best of all the bests.’ Imagine representing our humble school among the leading CDP experts in Region 3, with 21 divisions and teams. The competition was tough, but our team did not hold back. They rose to the challenge and proved that MIS can compete along with the premiere and established journalism schools in Central Luzon. I am very proud of them," Nicdao uttered.

This achievement also marks a significant journalistic triumph for Malabanias IS, highlighting the school’s growing presence in regional journalism competitions and the dedication of its young journalists.

Nagpaabot naman ng pasasalamat ang publikasyon sa buong komunidad ng paaralan, sa mga MIScians, mga g**o ng MIS, at sa pamunuan ng paaralan, kina dating punong-g**o na si Dr. Cherry Y. Hipolito, at sa kasalukuyang administrasyon na kinabibilangan nina Mr. Benedick Daniel Yumul, Mr. Arturo Dungca, at Mr. Jomar Sampaga—para sa walang sawang suporta sa mga campus journalist at mga tagapayo.

Sa loob ng tatlong magkakasunod na taon, nananatiling matatag ang NINGNING bilang isa sa mga nangungunang publikasyon sa lungsod ng Angeles.
