MEHS Students Join Campus Journalism

The junior high school students of Magsaysay Extension High School joined the Division Campus Journalism on May 18, 2023.

Eight were chosen to compete in the most prominent writing and skills event of the year together with multiple schools in the division of Cadiz City.

Worried entrants could not seek a better word to describe how they felt at their first writing competition, though they certainly showed courage and determination to hone their skills.

To English and Filipino coaches, Ma’am Axlrose Rosal and Maam Aiza Magbanua, the first time is never a waste—it is the fresh start of excellence.

“Mas mayo gid nga maging part sa campus journalism kay damo ka matun-an kag maka dugang knowledge sa imo, kay teen kapa kag maka learn ka sa mga butang nga wala mo pa nabal-an,” english enthusiast Gracelle Magallanes said.

The campus journalism workshop acts as a role model for the real world, where individuals can freely and openly share ideas, engage in debate, and identify issues that require attention.

Naisip ko,
hindi ba't ang sarap ng klase pag lahat ay tahimik at nakikinig?
Yung ikaw lang yung nagsasalita,
tapos pagmagtatanong, may sumasagot.

Hay, ang ingay naman kasi araw-araw.
Parang ang layo na ikaw lang ang nagsasalita.
'Yan tuloy, oras-oras ka rin na galit sa mga estudyante 'mong maingay.

Pero ngayon,
Ba't sobrang tahimik?
Parang sumobra ito sa pinangarap kong klaseng walang imik.
Walang nagsasalita.
Walang nagagalit.
Walang sumasabay sa bagong agos ng buhay.

Nakakamiss lang,
Nakamiss ang lahat sa loob ng klase.
Yung paglabas nila,
alam 'mong my natutunan sila.

Pero ngayon,
hindi mo na hawak ang lahat sa kanila.
Wala na sila sa silid-aralan na iyong pinaghahandaan.
Wala na sila sa silid-aralan na dati'y maingay at may nagbabangayan.
Wala na sila sa silid-aralan, na iyong sariling pwestong daan.

Nagbago man ang lahat,
kaming mga g**o ay patuloy pa rin sa paghihintay at paghangad.
Na hanggang isang araw,
sa muling pagbubukas ng klase,
sa ingay nyo...
kami'y muling makikisabay.
