All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.” β€” Abraham Lincoln

"Ma, ang kuwan ko diin?”
β€œMa, ang ano diin?”
β€œDiin si mama?”

Before we learned how to stand on our own, it was always β€œMama” we called first. In moments of confusion, pain, fear, or even the simplest need, it is a mother’s presence we instinctively seek. Her love becomes so constant in our lives that we often forget how much of our world quietly depends on her care.

Since the very beginning, mothers have been our first home, our first comfort, and our quiet source of strength. In every sacrifice they make, there is love. In every reminder, every prayer, and every embrace, there is care that asks for nothing in return.

This Mother’s Day, may we take time to appreciate the women who stood beside us through every season of lifeβ€”the ones who loved us at our best and stayed through our worst. Their love is gentle, selfless, and enduring in ways words often fail to explain.

To all mothers, thank you for every silent sacrifice, every comforting word, and every endless act of love. You are deeply cherished, today and always.

Behind every printed word is the courage to stand for the truth. When the pen is forcibly silenced, our origins are gradually erased, and the nation goes astray in the darkness of misinformation. A free press is not just a right of the few but the foundation upon which our freedom stands.

This 33rd year of World Press Freedom Day, we honor the guardians of democracyβ€”the journalists who remain undaunted in the face of threats and remain the voice of the voiceless. They serve as the conscience of our society and the light in shaping our future.

Let us recognize and protect them. Let us not allow the fire of truth to die out. Support the free press and fight for freedom.

"Tinapay kayo dyan!"

Before the sun rises, one voice is already awake, cutting through the stillness of the streets. It is not just the call of a manong vendor, it is a signal that another day has begun for workers running life’s endless marathon. Even before dawn fully breaks, they are already dressed and moving, fully aware that every second spent lingering is a moment taken from their fragile wage. Some grab a quick piece of bread, not out of choice, but out of necessity, because work cannot wait, and time is never enough. Labor Day is not just a celebration of jobs, but a recognition for our unsung heroes who trade a proper breakfast for the duty of providing for others.

Behind the curtain lies a life shaped by weary silhouettes and quiet sacrifices. Their hands grow tired, their bodies wear down, yet they keep walking on trembling feet because stopping means losing what little they have earned. The bread they eat in haste becomes more than food; it becomes time itselfβ€”simple, fleeting, just enough to keep going for those who carry the weight of life on their shoulders. Still, they endure, not for themselves alone, but for every table waiting to be filled, and for every family that depends on them.

Because for them, time does not simply pass, it becomes "bread". And in every hurried bite is a quiet truth, they are giving pieces of their lives so others may live better.
