WPU - Banana Tech Commercialization

🍌𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁🍌

A productive 2-day training on 𝗚𝗠𝗣 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗦𝗦𝗢𝗣 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 was held at 𝗔𝗥𝗠𝗖, 𝗕𝗿𝗴𝘆. 𝗜𝗿𝗮𝗮𝗻, 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗮𝗻, 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻 last 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟳-𝟭𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱.

Participants from Aborlan Rainbow Marketing Cooperative (ARMC) and On-The-Job Training (OJT) students from the Department of Home Economics gained valuable knowledge and hands-on experience to ensure food safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance in the facility.

This initiative was made possible through collaboration between 𝗪𝗣𝗨 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 and 𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧-𝗣𝗦𝗧𝗢 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻.

A Fruitful Beginning! 🍌

Today, we successfully held the Inception Meeting and MOA Writeshop for our project “Technology Transfer of Banana Energy Bar and Banana Liquor Production to Processors in Palawan Towards Enterprise Development.”

With the support of the Department of Agriculture–Bureau of Agricultural Research, our valued partners, and dedicated stakeholders — including participants from the Aborlan Rainbow Multipurpose Cooperative, Aborlan Food Processors Agriculture Cooperative, and representatives from the LGU Department of Agriculture and Department of Agrarian Reform — we’ve taken the first step toward turning research innovations into real livelihood opportunities for our local processors. 🍌✨

𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 (𝗰𝗚𝗠𝗣) 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝗔𝗙𝗘𝗦 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴

As part of the 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀 (𝗗𝗛𝗘) 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 in collaboration with 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗣𝗨 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁, cGMP training was successfully held at the New CAFES Building last August 1, 2025.

This training aims to impart knowledge on good manufacturing practices and ensure food processors adhere to the necessary food safety guidelines before and after food preparation.

Ms. Grace Jane Hernandez, Ms. Rhoijean Viador, and Mr. Harold Adrian Mazo, faculty members from DHE, tackled topics including Food Safety and Sanitation, and cGMP, respectively.

Several food manufacturers and members of partner food processing associations (AbFPA, ARMC, etc) from Aborlan, Palawan participated in the said activity. May this activity pave the way to a more meaningful livelihood to our partners. To more successful events to come.
