The RIDE Department spearheaded the Seminar Workshop in Writing Publishable Article and Packaging Research Project Proposal Writeshop along with CAFES' Dr. Marcos Bollido last December 11-12, 2025.

The workshop had a significant impact on the writing of publishable articles and research project proposals, with Dr. Venecio U. Ultra, Jr. serving as the Resource Speaker for the 2-day seminar workshop.

The RIDE Department conducted a Monitoring and Evaluation of Research and Extension Activities in Binduyan Marine Research Station (BMRS), El Nido Campus, and Canique Campus last December 7-9, 2025.

Western Philippines University added another proud moment to its year as we received a Plaque of Commendation from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)–Palawan during the Dengdeg Y Ang Banwa Awards Ceremony on December 11, 2025, at Holiday Suites Hotel Palawan, Puerto Princesa City.

The award recognizes WPU’s steady support for DILG programs—proof that when government and academe work hand in hand, good governance becomes more than a slogan; it becomes a shared mission. From championing community-based initiatives to strengthening local capacities, WPU’s contributions helped advance the vision of a Matino, Mahusay, at Maaasahang Lokal na Pamahalaan.

Greetings from The Palawan Scientist!

We are excited to announce that beginning September 2025, The Palawan Scientist journal will transition to an interdisciplinary theme centered on the interplay of science, society, and sustainability.

This shift aligns with Scopus' suggestion for the journal to have a more focused purpose, which is also in line with the Western Philippines University tagline, "A strong partner for sustainable development". We believe that this new focus will enhance the journal's relevance in addressing the pressing environmental, social, economic, and technological challenges. Hence, as part of this transition, all future paper submissions should connect or explain the paper's relevance in sustainable development.

We look forward to your continued support as we work towards finding solutions to the challenges we face today.
