A productive 2-day training on 𝗚𝗠𝗣 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗦𝗦𝗢𝗣 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 was held at 𝗔𝗥𝗠𝗖, 𝗕𝗿𝗴𝘆. 𝗜𝗿𝗮𝗮𝗻, 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗮𝗻, 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻 last 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟳-𝟭𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱.

Participants from Aborlan Rainbow Marketing Cooperative (ARMC) and On-The-Job Training (OJT) students from the Department of Home Economics gained valuable knowledge and hands-on experience to ensure food safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance in the facility.

This initiative was made possible through collaboration between 𝗪𝗣𝗨 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 and 𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧-𝗣𝗦𝗧𝗢 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻.

SUCCESSFUL RICE WINE TRAINING HELD IN NARRA! 🍶🌾

Yesterday, June 17, 2025, the Western Philippines University – Home Economics Department, in collaboration with the National Irrigation Administration – Palawan Irrigation Management Office (NIA-PIMO) and the Delta Falls Upper Lapu-Lapu Irrigators’ Association Inc., successfully conducted a Skills and Development Training on Rice Wine Processing and Product Development in Brgy. Poblacion, Narra, Palawan.

This community-based initiative aims to empower farmer-beneficiaries through value-adding knowledge in rice wine production—a culturally rooted and economically viable enterprise that utilizes local resources such as glutinous rice. Topics included Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), basic fermentation science, and innovative techniques to improve shelf life, packaging, and marketability.

As part of the EPAPH program, the training supports our shared mission to combat hunger and poverty through sustainable livelihood, entrepreneurship, and rural enterprise development.

🌊🐟 Wrapping up our 3-day Training on Fish Processing at Brgy. Pancol, Taytay, Palawan!

Led by Asst. Professor Anne Gellie Pablo of the Home Economics Department, WPU CAFES , the training equipped members of the Malampaya Pancol Multi-purpose Cooperative with essential knowledge on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP). This was followed by hands-on sessions on sardine making, fishball production, longganisa processing. Participants also gained valuable insights into strategies to help turn skills into sustainable livelihood ventures.

With the strong support of Good Neighbors Philippines, KOICA, and DOST - PSTO Palawan, we proudly move forward in empowering fisherfolk and strengthening community-based livelihoods.
