Time for me to get back to posting here. April 1-2, 2024 I visited Machu Picchu. Day 1, my kids and I had tickets for the early afternoon and hired a guide before heading up on the bus. It started as a sunny afternoon with clear views of the whole site. Then there was a downpour about halfway through our walk through. We had our rain ponchos which kept us dry. The bonus of sun mixed with rain was seeing a big rainbow 🌈. The next day we had morning tickets. I went back up by myself as the teens opted to sleep in. It was cloudy at first but after waiting a bit, the clouds started to lift. I enjoyed seeing it again at my own pace without the pushy guide and grumpy teens. I planned ahead of our trip to buy tickets for two different days and one morning slot and one afternoon slot to give us the best chance of seeing Machu Picchu. I have seen quite a few others who only have one shot at it and the view is completely obscured by clouds.

Cross country skiing is a bargain at Sugar Pine Point State Park, Tahoma, California. Just $5 for parking.
