Here is a paper titled: "Toward Integrating Overlay and Physical Networks for Robust Parallel Processing Architecture" published by Katsuya Suto, Hiroki Nishiyama, Nei Kato, Takayuki Nakachi, Tatsuya Fujii and Atsuchi Takahara. This paper is about a new design methodology of an overlay-based parallel processing architecture based on integration of overlay and physical networks which will make a higher service availability against physical network failures while minimizing traffic load.
