¡Soy Capaz! is the educational branch of Amazon Promise.
As part of our ongoing work throughout the year, educator and patient advocate, Angela Valcarcel provides monthly workshops in the impoverished urban community of Belen on topics such as HIV prevention and domestic violence targeting diverse population groups. She also conducts house-to-house calls and provides individual counseling linking people to HIV services and the Emergency Center for Women (CEM) whom we partner with.
She recently had the opportunity to provide an educational talk to the elder community residing at the Algo Bello Para Dios convalescent home run by Father Raymond Portelli who is also a physician.
With her expertise, Angela not only provides essential health education during our remote jungle outreach clinics but also successfully navigates the obstacles that arise when patients encounter barriers to care. Her swift problem-solving skills enable patients who may otherwise feel lost and abandoned, to receive the urgent and follow-up care they desperately need.
Angela's dedication and compassion are integral to our mission, making her an indispensable asset in our pursuit of comprehensive care and health education for all.
Thank you Angela!

House calls to attend to those who can't make it to where we're holding clinic in remote Amazonian villages make a big difference.
It might be an adjustable cane, reading, sun, and distance glasses, medications, wound evaluation, an ultrasound, or food. It can also be something much more serious requiring a medical evacuation to the city. We had two patients taken to Iquitos and are monitoring them at the hospital.
Thank you, Western Michigan Medical team for being here these last two weeks.
