Do you know it gets cold in the Amazon rainforest? We’re currently experiencing a friaje—a cold front that travels all the way from Antarctica.❄️
While the break from the heat is welcome, these events are becoming more frequent due to climate change. It’s a powerful reminder of how interconnected our global ecosystems truly are!
The mist is rolling in, but the work doesn’t stop! Our monitoring and expeditions are still in full swing—just with a few extra layers.
If you’re visiting us soon don’t forget to pack some cold-weather essentials.✨
Staying at our Romero Lodge inside Manu National Park in the Amazon rainforest 🌿
We recently returned from an incredible expedition where the wildlife sightings were endless! From red howler monkeys and caimans to vibrant macaws... the list is massive.
After the adventure, we headed back to the lodge to enjoy traditional Amazonian flavors, including authentic Juane.

At the Manu Learning Centre, we’re starting to learn more about fireflies with biologist Laia Gaitan. This research is vital, as very little is known about these small but incredibly important creatures in the Amazon!
Looking for butterfly species along the river, the ones we sometimes don’t see in our forest traps.🦋
Celebrating over 15 years of butterfly research in the world’s most biodiverse place for them! 🦋 A huge thank you to every volunteer and intern who has helped us document this incredible diversity.
