From water-damaged to restored: A "Zen" Veneer Challenge ⚓

​A few weeks ago, I shared a video about the meticulous patience required for this project.

​The original veneer on these sailboat cabinets was badly damaged by moisture. This was a true masterclass in precision: working with delicate wood veneer leaves, hand-scribing each piece to match the original curved contours, and carefully sliding them under the existing trim without removing the whole unit.

​It required a serious amount of "Zen" focus for those fiddly micro-adjustments, but the hard part is done. The new veneer is perfectly bonded with epoxy and finished with marine varnish for long-term protection.

​The perfect timing to get this beautiful interior sorted while the boat is tucked away for the cooler months here in Whangārei! 🔨🌊
