AI moves at lightning speed. Copyright law? Not so much. So where does that leave AI-generated content? Is it yours? The platform’s? No one's?
AI is everywhere, but the gap between this fast-moving tech and old copyright laws means many businesses and organisations might be exposed to risks without realising it.
In this 30-minute session, we’ll break this topic down into insights you can apply right away.
Join us for a live Q&A on Thursday, 2 July with:
• Una Cox from Write Group
• Sophie Everarts de Velp, Lawyer at Mutatis Legal
They’ll help shed light on the following topics.
• Can you copyright AI-generated content?
• Who ultimately owns the rights?
• Why is a human in the loop essential for legal protection?
• How else can you stay legally protected?
You don’t need to stop using AI — just understand what you own.
Bonus: Simply by showing up live, you’ll make a positive impact. For every attendee, we’ll contribute through our B1G1 partnership to help protect the Indonesian rainforest from wildfires.

Most people read between 100 and 250 words a minute most of the time.
Yet often our brains can absorb information at 400 words a minute — without losing comprehension.
Test your reading speed at:
https://writegroup.io/resources/test-your-reading-speed/
And tell us in the comments what your result was!
If you have a teenager who wants to improve their reading speed and comprehension, we're running a special Advanced Reading workshop for students this July. It's the same programme used by MPs, lawyers, and senior professionals, who've described it as 'practical magic.'

You’ve asked AI to write your caption, generate a logo, or code your landing page…but who owns the result? You? The platform? No one?
Copyright law wasn’t built with AI in mind, and that creates a blind spot for everyone.
Join us for a live Q&A on Thursday, 2 July with:
• Una Cox from Write Group
• Sophie Everarts de Velp, Lawyer at Mutatis Legal
We’ll break the topic down with clear, practical insights and explore the following questions.
• Is your AI-generated content protected?
• Why is a human in the loop essential for your legal protection?
• Who owns the rights?
• How else can you stay legally protected?
You don’t need to stop using AI — just understand what you own.
A bonus to this Q&A: Simply by showing up live, you’ll make a positive impact. For every attendee, we’ll contribute through our B1G1 partnership to help protect the Indonesian rainforest from wildfires.

Every time you do business with us, something good happens in the world 🌏
We’ve just tallied up our B1G1 impacts for May, and we are blown away by what we’ve been able to achieve in just one month!
When we partnered with B1G1, our goal was simple: making sure every service we offer creates a positive, practical, and measurable impact for a community that needs it.
May was our first month measuring these results. Seeing the tally grow because of workshop bookings, content projects, Write Online subscriptions, and Q&As has been incredible — it’s one more way we try to make every project count.
Thank you to everyone who worked with Write Group in May. You helped us make these impacts happen, and we can’t wait to see what kind of impact we can make in June!

The graduate disconnect is real — and it's landing on your desk. A line in this Newsroom article from the Asia NZ Foundation Symposium caught our attention:
‘[Young graduates] increasingly describe a disconnect between education systems that discourage AI use and workplaces that expect them to be fluent in it.’
If you’re running a graduate programme, you’re sitting right in the middle of that disconnect.
Your new cohort has spent three or four years being told AI writing tools are a problem. Now they're walking into roles where the Government is actively driving AI uptake across New Zealand at the same time as agencies are expected to move faster with fewer resources.
That's a big gap to bridge on day 1.
Across Asia, governments are already investing heavily in workforce digital capability and building structured retraining at scale. The article’s message is clear: drift has a cost.
We work with teams every day on exactly this — building practical, confident capability with AI writing tools so people can use them effectively, critically, and appropriately in a business context.
If your graduate programme doesn’t yet include structured AI writing skills, this is the year to change that. We'd love to chat about how we can help you get the best out of your recently hired graduate talent.
The harder edges of technological change Opinion: As Nicola Willis drives AI uptake, young graduates increasingly find a disconnect between education systems that discourage AI use and workplaces that expect them to be fluent in it, writes Suzannah Jessep.
Delivering bad news? Anticipate the follow-up questions 💙
If you want to protect trust during a difficult conversation, you need to think about the receiver's experience before you write the email or step into the room.
We talked all about this in our recent live Q&A: ‘How to communicate when the message is hard.’
Check out this snippet for a great reminder on why preparation is key, and watch the full recording for free here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMP4V2JxZ5A
We hope this kōrero gives you some valuable takeaways and you feel more confident going into challenging communications.
'You cannot dictate how somebody takes bad news, but you can try and do it carefully and tactfully.'
Missed out on Tuesday’s live Q&A about how to communicate when the message is hard? Watch it here for free: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMP4V2JxZ5A&t=17s
We had a great time answering your questions and sharing advice on:
· the importance of making your audience feel safe
· how to be empathetic without tipping into sympathy
· whether email is the right place for bad news...and much more!
We hope this kōrero is helpful and you can take a few of these tips on board!
A big thank you to our consultants Corinna Lines and Jacob lister, and our awesome host Daniel Androutsos for all your insights.
