Another Building Consent Approved in Auckland! 🏡

A big win for the team this week, another consent approved, with some really positive feedback from the Auckland Council on the clarity of our documentation.

We put a lot of care into making sure our drawing sets and documents are clear, accurate and easy to build from. The consent process is just one step in that, but it’s great to see our focus on quality communication paying off.

Clear information helps everyone, clients, consultants, builders and councils alike.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by the Modal Architecture, Flexi House, and stand! It was a pleasure to meet so many people interested in building faster, better homes in New Zealand.

Taking our projects off screens and onto high-quality, printed drawing sets for presentations hits a little differently.

Aside from having something tangible to hold and flip through for our clients, this gives us a chance to hand over a 'clean' copy, while we draw all over the presentation document to explain ideas and share ideas.

With all the tech we have in our workflow, we still can't beat presenting a project with a pen and paper 😅

We had another fantastic design meeting with one of our Wellington-based new build clients last week.

Presenting on the wall in view, the outcome of our design expertise, paired with their lifestyle requirements. On the other wall, out of view, every step of the journey was pinned up.

This, alongside the printed documents and 3D model ready to go on screen, makes the storytelling experience effortless for our clients to see how decisions were made, and how their design has gone from a conversation when we first met them, to a robust document set, ready for pricing verification from our Quantity Surveying partners.

The long and the short of it - How many clients see a 6m high living room, with a bridge running through it on the first floor and excitedly say "YES!" The bridge has been part of this project for some time, and took this house from answering the functional brief for his home, and helped shape the architectural experience that makes his proposed home something special.

Building lasting relationships with past clients and learning about their experiences in their homes after the construction phase is incredibly fulfilling.

Design is centred around how people interact with spaces, so returning to visit, enjoying a cup of coffee, and listening to the successes of projects now lived in by families across New Zealand is a true pleasure!

Selfishly, we also get a buzz out of seeing those client gifts given at the end of the project being used!

Another Wellington project underway with the talented team from . We’ve been fortunate to have worked with for almost a decade, and have actively worked together since Modal started!

This week, we headed north of Matakana to check out one of our building sites with our client. The place was spotless, the craftsmanship top-notch, and the client was buzzing seeing their home come to life.

Carl Evans and the team at are turning our drawings into something real. and doing it with real care and pride in their work!

We’ve got the approved resource consent for Bridgewell House in Queenstown with the help of the team at Clark Fortune McDonald & Associates this week - Our shared client is absolutely delighted to say the least 🍾🥂

We’re moving straight into the next steps with the homeowners to get building consent approved and into construction. Exciting times ahead for this special project!
