Underpainting

I tend to refrain from calling myself a painter because I genuinely have no idea what I’m doing with myself half the time. Perhaps that feeling will go away with time, but I believe it’s pretty common for most artists to feel like this.

I’d rather call myself an artist. If you’ve been following me a while you know I started this page with the intent to post my jewelry, which I am still interested in. I just find that my interests are so spread out creatively that I can’t limit myself to one thing or another. I may never master painting or clay jewelry or anything else I try, but I still have fun and couldn’t survive without being creative.

Midweek self portrait progress

A few practice scrap paintings before I went back to Auckland

Work in progress while I’m home with an injured shoilder. In fact in all honesty it’s a bit tiring to paint rn like this but whatever goes 🖼️

I told my self this was going to be an attempt at neatly underpainting the dark layers first and smoothly blending in the other colors because believe it or not, I still want some realism and detail in this. But instead my brush strokes won’t go that way and rough and wild is what we got. This is only like an hour in. I promise I’ll get neat and proportioned again 😂❤️
