Green on the first go!

Direct Concrete's ambitious approach to Health and Safety has been reflected today by the massive achievement of Sitewise Green status.

The assessment was tough but with help we put together the evidence required to prove our HS systems are of high quality and we actively manage and make improvements at every possible opportunity.

This is an important milestone for the company and something I'm very proud of. I am confident with some small improvements and further training we will move to Gold status.

An interesting start to the short week, we responded promptly to an urgent 'please help' situation at 12pm, delivering a workable solution by 3pm.

This involved sending our 132mm core drill bit to a depth of 1350mm (1.35 meters).

A decent portion of our work is remedial, confidential or simply unsuitable for advertising, this makes it difficult to show you our full capabilities, especially with concrete cutting and drilling.

This job was similar, in a soon to be public site. The best I could do was snap a pic before packing up!

Our journey to Health and Safety greatness continues.

Silica dust is a massive hazard in our industry, the micro crystals are light and float around long after cutting has finished. These silica crystals can get stuck in your lungs and cause silicosis. This condition is irreversible and can be compared to asbestos.

We recently tested a new Holer Diamond Tools S28-A Dry Vac on our 50mm soft cutter.

Impressive early results show very high dust capture and I think with some optimisation we could take away 99% of dust produced from soft cutting.

Here’s a small insitu inspection chamber we installed before proceeding with a concrete pad over top of the area.

We can easily drill out existing sumps to suit your new drainage pipes. The compact AGP set up requires minimal space and plows through concrete sump walls.

We have done a few of these and our processes have greatly improved lately.

With the addition of our Husqvarna K2500 pre cut saw, it’s much much faster and safer to cut both vertical and horizontal first before using the larger, heavier hydro saws to finish the cuts off.

This was a fun undertaking with a lot of time spent prepping the area and cleaning up.

Yes we made a mess, yes we did clean it up.
