Did you know that the winter solstice marks the shortest day and longest night of the year? In Aotearoa New Zealand, it occurs around 21 June and marks the turning point toward longer, brighter days. It also falls close to Matariki, a time of reflection, celebration, and looking forward to the future.

To mark this special time of year, we're inviting all students to come to school in their favourite pyjamas on Friday, 19 June (tomorrow).

There is no cost involved, just a fun way to celebrate the season together and bring a little extra warmth and comfort to the school day.

Not keen on wearing PJs? That's absolutely fine too. Students are welcome to wear their school uniform as usual.

We look forward to celebrating the shortest day and the season of Matariki with our TAPS whānau. 🌟🌙❄️

This Friday, the pellets are arriving at approximately 12pm for the raised seating for the production.
We need the help of 6-8 heavy lifters to lift the pellets off the truck and lay them in place in the hall. We anticipate it'll take about 30-45minutes.
The pellets are double-sized, so they weigh quite a bit.
Please PM us if you can help. Thank you!

Waipā Networks backs major rugby fixture

Waipā Networks is continuing its commitment to local communities through its partnership with Waikato Rugby, supporting the upcoming Waikato XV match against Hong Kong China at Albert Park in Te Awamutu on Wednesday, 24 June.

As matchday partner alongside Te Awamutu Sports, Waipā Networks has helped ensure free entry for all supporters, making it easy for local families, clubs, and businesses to be part of a high-quality sporting event close to home.

Bringing representative rugby under lights to Te Awamutu is expected to attract a strong local turnout, while also showcasing the wider Waipā district as a vibrant place to live, work and visit.

For Waipā Networks, a customer-owned organisation, the partnership reflects a broader focus on investing in initiatives that strengthen community connection and accessibility.

“Our focus is always on supporting opportunities that bring people together and create positivity for the communities we serve,” says General Manager Customer and Community Anna Watson.

“Helping to remove barriers like ticket cost means more people can experience events like this, whether that’s local families, sports clubs or businesses hosting clients or staff.”

Now in its second year partnering with Waikato Rugby, Waipā Networks has shifted its focus from last year’s Farah Palmer Cup fixture in Cambridge to a one-off international-style match in Te Awamutu, expanding the reach and impact of the sponsorship.

Watson says last year’s strong turnout, despite poor weather, highlighted the value of investing in accessible, community-focused events.

“There was a fantastic sense of community at last year’s game, and that’s exactly what we’re aiming to build on,” she says.

“We’re looking forward to seeing Te Awamutu turn it on for what should be a great night of rugby.”

Is your child missing a scooter? We have had one in the office for over a week. It was left in the scooter stand on Friday, 29th May. If it is yours, please let us know and we can return it to you.

Hi everyone,
We need your help.
There have been people up to no good at school this afternoon in the Room 18 cloak bay.
They’ve damaged many of our bag hooks for no good reason, perhaps because they were under the influence…
If anyone has information, please pass it on.
If you’re the parents of these teens please ask them to stay out of our space. This behaviour is so tedious.

Edit: one of the teenage young men had an electric bike/motorbike so that should narrow it down a fair bit.

Thank you 🙏
