It’s Scottish day at Freeman Court today!
A piper set the scene over a morning tea of shortbread, with a fun-filled day of food, music and movies arranged by our OT students.
Freeman Court’s residents enjoyed scotch eggs, rumbledethumps and vege haggis for lunch, with Dundee cake and custard for dessert, and are looking forward to Cock-a-leekie soup for dinner this evening.
Hello lovely peps
I'm after 3 drivers willing to donate their time 11.30 till 12.30/1ish.

Exciting things happening in our neighbourhood!
More warm, dry, and affordable homes for older people are coming to Te Awamutu!
We’re excited to see work begin on Habitat’s Palmer Street development this week. Over approximately 10 years, seven new two-storey blocks, containing a total of 46 one- and two-bedroom units, are planned to be constructed in stages.
Phase One of the project will see one block of six units completed by mid-2026, providing new homes for public housing tenants aged 60 and over.

Raise the roof!
The fog might be thick today but it's not putting a damper on our excitement. Work has begun on our new roof and our residents are all eagerly keeping track of progress.

Robyn and Doug offered to help deliver meals for Habitat’s Freeman Court when they were short one day – and two years later they’re still going strong, driving around town every Wednesday delivering freshly cooked meals to people in Te Awamutu.
They became associated with Freeman Court when Robyn’s mum was a resident, and volunteering has helped keep a connection to the place.
Robyn says: “It’s one hour a week of your life and it gets you out and about – from one side of town to the other. You see places where you don’t normally go, while doing your bit for the community.”
Doug usually does the driving, while Robyn jumps in and out to drop off the meals, say hello, and have a quick chat.
“It’s nice for people to know that someone is coming into their house and checking in on them.”
It’s Te Wiki Tūao ā-Motu, National Volunteer Week, and we’re giving a shout out to our amazing volunteers who give their time and energy to support our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Good morning everyone, I would love to hear from anyone that has a spare hour a week to volunteer to deliver meals to our wonderful community. This is a very rewarding job as the clients absolutely enjoy seeing the drivers each day. Please get in touch with me. Many thanks 🙂
Just want to have a huge shout out to Scope Electrical for your contribution and amazing lovely staff for delivering meals within our community!🙂
