Not every beginning feels new. Some feel like a return.

On Monday 20th of April, we welcomed our new Chief Executive, Hariata Vercoe MNZM, onto Paratehoata (Tūnohopū) Marae in Ōhinemutu — held by our haukāinga and supported by more than 100 whānau, partners, and representatives from across the rohe.

It was a powerful moment. Not just of welcome, but of continuation.

From the haka pōhiri to the hākari in Rukuwai, the day reflected everything that sits at the heart of who we are — collective strength, tikanga, and service.

In her kōrero, Hariata spoke about growing up at the pā, being guided by kuia, and learning that Whānau Ora has always been about serving from the back.

“It’s the manaaki from the back. We’re there to serve our people, helping them to aspire and thrive.”

This is more than a new chapter. It’s a continuation of a shared journey.

We’re opening registrations for our next Te Rau Hiringa wānanga, starting 12 May.

This is a 6-week journey for those wanting to reconnect with who they are, what matters, and how they relate to themselves and others. A space to reflect, reset, and grow alongside others.

On the back of the strong turnout and positive feedback from last month’s wānanga and workshops, we’re excited to be rolling out more free wānanga this March.

These workshops focus on wellbeing, movement, culture, creativity, kai, and connection — all in supportive, welcoming spaces for whānau.
