Not every beginning feels new. Some feel like a return.
On Monday 20th of April, we welcomed our new Chief Executive, Hariata Vercoe MNZM, onto Paratehoata (Tūnohopū) Marae in Ōhinemutu — held by our haukāinga and supported by more than 100 whānau, partners, and representatives from across the rohe.
It was a powerful moment. Not just of welcome, but of continuation.
From the haka pōhiri to the hākari in Rukuwai, the day reflected everything that sits at the heart of who we are — collective strength, tikanga, and service.
In her kōrero, Hariata spoke about growing up at the pā, being guided by kuia, and learning that Whānau Ora has always been about serving from the back.
“It’s the manaaki from the back. We’re there to serve our people, helping them to aspire and thrive.”
This is more than a new chapter. It’s a continuation of a shared journey.

Owning your own home can feel like a big step — but you don’t have to navigate the journey alone.
Whai Kāinga is a kaupapa designed to equip whānau with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to purchase their own home. Through guided kōrero and practical learning, this wānanga helps break down the process so whānau can move forward with clarity and support.
📅 Next Wānanga:
Thursday 2 April – Thursday 23 April
⏰ 5:30pm – 7:30pm
📍 4-week programme (one session per week)

✨ A gentle evening for pregnancy, creation, and becoming ✨
Pregnancy is more than a physical journey.
It is creation.
It is connection.
It is becoming.
Grounded in mātauranga Māori and the creation stories of Papatūānuku and Ranginui, this evening invites stillness, reflection, and shared presence.
Hana Tapiata will gently hold this space with care, depth, and intention — inviting us to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with the sacred rhythms of creation and life.
