Simple Direct Funerals

Sometimes it’s the small details that make something personal.

A family recently asked for their loved one’s ashes to be divided into six. I made these six little plywood urns, each engraved with their loved one’s name inside an outline of Pepin Island.

A simple design, with a personal touch.

That’s part of what matters to me at Simple Direct Funerals: taking the time to help families in a way that feels right for them.

It’s quite handy having a talented artist on board here at SDF. We can make urns to order, with hand-painted designs like this one by Kath Haring.

Direct cremation prices can be difficult to compare. After-hours transfers, weekend collection, viewing and an urn may not be included.

I’ve written a short guide explaining what families should check—and why the way things are done matters just as much as the price.

Life at SDF is sometimes quite scary. This is a 3 picture Horror show. There needs to be the 4th picture of being pecked on the back of the hand. But it was a surprise lunchtime attack.

A strong, practical coffin does not need to cost thousands.

Our DIY coffin kit is made from untreated plywood and comes pre-cut, with rope handles, screws and illustrated assembly instructions.

It can be left natural, painted, stained or decorated by family and friends. Suitable for cremation or burial.

$600 including GST and delivery throughout New Zealand.

On very rare occasions we sometimes are asked to make an urn for a beloved pet.
