Curls this alive aren’t the result of a good hair day — they’re cut for it. Sam shaped this refresh curl by curl, working with the pattern instead of fighting it, so every coil falls where it’s meant to and holds its bounce well past wash day.
A proper curl cut is structure, not a trim with extra steps.
A few months in as a Glowwa Hair Food stockist and it’s become part of how we approach hair health conversations in the studio.
Hormones change hair - that’s not opinion, that’s biology.
Glowwa Meno is formulated to support hair and scalp health through that hormonal transitions, working from the follicle level.
It’s not a magic pill. It’s a supplement that supports what’s happening internally while we take care of what’s happening externally. If hormones have changed how your hair feels, this is one of the tools we recommend as part of a broader approach.
Available in-studio and online.

We get asked about grey hair more than almost anything else in the chair — usually somewhere between “I should just embrace it” and “is there actually anything to be done.” Turns out the science has been quietly rewriting the answer for a few years now, and most of us haven’t caught up.
A mitochondrial psychobiologist at Columbia found hair that went white, then dark again. Not dyed — reversed. And what he found underneath that reversal is different enough from what we’ve all assumed that it changes the conversation entirely.

Common Thread is growing.
We’re looking for an intermediate or senior stylist - someone who values quality over volume and wants the space to do their best work.
20–35 flexible hours. One guest at a time.
Marketing and technical support built around your development, not just the studio’s.
Interested? DM us for a confidential, no-pressure conversation.
Your curls aren’t the problem. The approach has been.
Most curly-haired women have spent years being told their texture needs taming, smoothing, controlling — when it just needs someone who knows how to work with it. That’s a very different thing.
Samantha and Morgan are trained in curly hair at Common Thread and are passionate about helping you stop apologising for your natural texture.

When the hesitation becomes the best decision you made all week.
Thank you for trusting Morgan with your hair, Nat — we’ll see you again soon.
We built Common Thread around a feeling - unhurried, intentional, personal.
A boutique hair studio in Pukekohe where the experience is as deliberate as the result.
A year on from her first appointment, and this is what patience looks like. Alice’s colour work is built to grow - soft, warm, dimensional through every inch of regrowth, so the return visit is a refinement, not a rescue.
This is for the guest who’s tired of the treadmill - the constant touch-ups, the maintenance that never quite settles. Colour that grows with you, not against you, still feels like you, just quietly enhanced.
If this is the kind of low-maintenance colour you’re after, Alice’s diary is the place to start.

What’s the priority - skipping washes to avoid restyling every day, or a scalp balanced enough that your hair needs far less styling in the first place?
That’s the trade most people are unknowingly making. Wash less to dodge the daily blow-dry, and the scalp underneath - where every strand you’ll grow this year is already forming - quietly picks up the cost. Congestion, inflammation, a compromised follicle. None of it visible yet.
Swipe through for where that habit came from, and why the healthier scalp is usually the lower-maintenance one. Worth a conversation next time you’re with us.
