April and her kittens update 🐾
April is such a good mum to her babies. She’s super loving and enjoys getting some attention herself.
Her 5 kittens are doing so well and are 6 weeks old today.
They are all eating on their own (but still having feeds off April) and learning to use the litterbox. They are growing fast and their little personalities are really starting to show.
Meet April’s babies 💕
Stella - Female Tabby
Our little runt. She loves to sit on your lap, be close to you and was the first one to eat on her own.
Phoebe - Female Tuxedo
She is a quiet girl who loves being close to her mum. Unfortunately, Phoebe hurt her leg the other week, so she’s on crate rest for the next few weeks as advised by our vet. She’s enjoying the extra TLC while she recovers.
Plankton - Male Tuxedo
He was always the first one at the door wanting to greet us, get cuddles and run around.
Spartacus - Male Ginger
The biggest boy. He loves getting up to mischief with Fireball but is equally sweet and cuddly.
Fireball - Male Ginger
He loves getting into mischief with Spartacus and always has something to say when you pick him up.
They should be ready for adoption in a few weeks once they’ve been desexed, vaccinated, microchipped etc so keep an eye on our page.

Hey everyone
We try not asking for help but after what happened yesterday this touched our hearts and we wanted to share what another rescue is dealing with and another wee dog is going through.
If you can spare a few dollars to help Paws - Restart with this dogs surgery please do.

To the Person or persons who caused me to bury a dog this morning before my day started id just like to say I dislike you more than words can say. No I dispise you. As a result of your actions I missed my morning coffee I also missed spending my morning with my own animals my family had to rush around get up and ready early change everything because you wanted to adopt out another dog another number.
We are not happy!
Maybe in future when you rehome a dog or puppy you will do a thorough property check.
Your actions or lack of them caused distress to a dogs new owner also to myself and my family. We went out looking for the dog for hours last night driving walking crawling under houses looking searching etc sadly we couldn't find her. Until this morning when we were notified of her passing. A huge thank you to the couple who found her moved her off the road showed her respect.
This leads us to let you all know (or followers and potential adopters) we are strict on checking properties and if our first search doesn't show us what we want we try ok use alternatives. When we ask for videos or photos we check both the height AND the underneath for gaps. If we're still not happy we arrange for people to do a check in person and if your out of our area we use contacts to do the checks for us.
Unlike some rescues/organisations we are available to help any hour of the day or night for all questions and concerns.
Some rescues/organisations are so busy getting their animals "out the door" that they overlook the basics.... 1. Fencing is the house fully fenced? AND SECURE!!!! 2. Is this dog suitable for this owner? Let's face it there's no point giving a person who cant walk far a hyperactive dog that requires a great deal of exercise. 3. Are you just wanting the dog gone to boost your adoption numbers for the month or are you prepared to hold onto it a bit longer to find the perfect match? If youre not prepared to hold on MAYBE you're in the wrong "profession".
If you read this and think "oh gosh are they talking about me" in short yes we probably are.
Please remember when we ask for photos now you all understand why a little better hopefully. Accidents do happen we know this but this one was preventable. RIP Miss M Myles and I will miss our walks with you. He and you formed an amazing friendship/bond in a matter of days we could see you growing into such a confident wee girl yet your life was taken far too soon. Fly free see you again one day at the rainbow bridge. 🌈🌈🌈

Meet Walter
4 years old
Mixed breed - Poodle x Golden retriever x Labrador
This boy has been with us for over a month while we get to know him and he is now ready for a fresh start in a new home.
Walter is a pretty easygoing boy who enjoys having company but is equally happy to spend his afternoon relaxing on the deck. He knows his basics sit,paw/shake, bed. He also is great sleeping in a crate at night however doesn't like being left alone in a crate for long periods.
Walter may not of had the best start to life but he not a bad dog.
Unfortunately for Walter he has been classified as a menacing dog by the local council. We have been told by the council he was classified due to "rushing" people. He was left for days home alone with a female dog who he was breeding with so we are not surprised he rushed some people. It could have been a number of reasons why he did this. We have been trying to get this removed as he's not a bad dog, even the ACO said he's a good boy but yet they won't remove it.
This means Walter must wear a muzzle in public.
But here's the thing
Walter has been fine when people come and visit, he's walked with other dogs and has walked past people and cows in a paddock without a problem.
We also gave him a much needed haircut as he had quite a few matts and he just stood there without an issue. He even lay down on our laps for the groom at one stage.
Walter is not a first time dog owners dog he needs someone who will continue his training who will put his needs first who will be prepared to put in effort into building a relationship with him.
He is the sweetest boy who just wants a place of his own to call home.
Walter has been Desexed, microchipped (registered on NZCAR), vaccinated, flea and worm treated. He is also registered with the council.

If you think you can give this boy a forever home please get in touch and we will send you our application form.

Meet Callie and Lindt our mystery pair
These two are the last of a colony of cats we were asked to help.
We believe they are siblings, although we can't say for sure. They are both around 2-3 years old.
Callie and Lindt will need some time to settle in their new environments as they both haven't had much interaction from people before coming into care.
One is a little more confident and enjoys pats, although does still flinch at first when you go to pat them. This cat doesn't mind being around other cats or dogs but is also happy on their own.
The other is more timid around people to start but will accept pats and is getting more confident everyday. This cat smooches up to the other cats and seeks out their company so would do best with another friendly cat in the home and also loves to play with toys.
They are both beautiful cats who deserve a loving home.
They have both been Desexed, microchipped (registered on NZCAR), 1st vaccination, flea and worm treated, vet checked.
Located in Paeroa
Adoption fee applies
If you can tell us what type of cat you are after and if your home is suitable one of these cats may be able to move to your place. Or both if you like.

We'd like to introduce you to Felicity and her 4 fantastic kittens.
This little family has 2 young ladies to thank for their existence as they were found yesterday morning outside shaking with the cold and very wet.
They're now relishing in a warm house with endless food and round the clock love. Felicity is shy at first but will soon warm up to you. She's just a protective mum who's starving.
We have had to rearrange the house ao all animals are safe and can stay warm.
The kittens are very underweight they are the size of a 1 to 2 week old kitten but are probably 2 to 3 weeks old
Their weights range from 201gms to 284 gms.
We have scanned Felicity for a microchip but she doesn't have one.
Have a fantastic weekend.
