The CLS team hosted a successful quiz out at Sprig + Fern Mapua last Wednesday to fundraise for our friends at Fossil Creek Farm Trust.

A huge thanks to all the quiz participants for buying every single raffle ticket which enabled us to achieve a record amount raised! We raised an incredible $1,100 from the prizes donated by CLS staff and several wonderful businesses including Guthrie Bowron (Richmond), The Flower Farm, Penny Lane Perennials, Fee Topia Reflexology and ANZ Bank.

The funds raised will help Fossil Creek Farm continue to provide subsidised therapy sessions and to help with their animal feed bill given the ongoing drought.

Last week was a big week for us at CLS as we changed over to a new and improved practice software. The software is called LEAP so it seemed only fitting to have a bit of a frog theme in the firm lately — the best of which was perhaps these amazing cakes by Cakes By Linda, Cakes For All Occasions. 🐸

Hannah is taking holiday destressing to a new level and hopping on a plane to explore, relax, and travel around Thailand!

As our youngest solicitor, Hannah has had a busy, non-stop year at CLS, so she has masterminded a trip for her time off involving backpacking and indulging in short spurts of resort life. She is looking forward to a complete break away from everything familiar so she can unwind and immerse herself in a different culture. We are slightly envious but she totally deserves it! Have a great trip, Hannah! 🏝

We thought it would be fun to reveal how some of our staff are planning to unwind over Christmas. 🎄

We’ve had a challenging 8 months – none so more than our hardworking Practice Manager, Tracey Buxton. She keeps a low profile, but we managed to coax out of her what has been her coping mechanism for setting up a brand new firm and keeping it all together. It appears to be an Appaloosa horse called Spartacus. He is her happy place she says, and she intends to spend increased time with him over the holiday period including teaching him to bow!

Tracey says, "He is an incredible horse, very demonstrative and very bright so to be in his company for only 10 minutes is a privilege and just calms me. He has taught me to be totally in the present moment when with him so it means I manage to turn off all the work traffic in my brain."

A family affair for Christmas 🎄

We decided to go back to basics this year for the very first Client Legal Solutions’ staff Christmas function!

Gerard, one of our directors, kindly opened his fabulous home to us all complete with marque, outside bar and games galore for the little people! It was really nice for a change not going out to a function centre or restaurant as the layout of Gerard’s place made it feel like a big family was coming together for an informal barbecue in the backyard. The family just happened to be the Client Legal Solutions brood! The weather was in our favour as was the incredible food supplied by Kudos Catering. You can’t beat the success of a great Christmas staff function for boosting staff morale and our one was certainly up there!

MEET OUR CREW: Ian "MR T" Turner

If you’ve been wondering where our Mr T has got to, he hasn't gone far!

Also known as Ian Turner, Mr T is well-recognised as one of Nelson’s most experienced trust gurus. He has been with Client Legal Solutions since Day 1 coming from Knapps Lawyers, and he adds enormous strength to our firm not only in the area of trust law, but also in commercial law and estate planning.

Ian is currently balancing semi-retirement with his role as a consultant. He still manages a huge database of very loyal and dedicated clients, but with the added newfound joys of skiing! Mr T works two days per week at CLS, so please plan ahead if you need to see him.
