In the last few months I have slowly been making my way towards entering the BMW Series. I have been able to do a few laps (not quite as many as I would have liked🫣)
But am super excited to take the step up to join the rookies in the classy E46 Series.

Grayson Stowe is another one of our rookie drivers this season, stepping into the NEXEN Tyre E46 Class.

Starting out in karts at just six years old, Grayson cut his teeth in Cadets before moving into the competitive Vortex Mini Rok class. He’s raced all over the country, picked up plenty of podiums along the way, and even headed across the Tasman to compete in the Australian Kart Championship and the City of Titles in Melbourne.

At 13 he made the move from karts to cars, jumping into an MX5 and racing across MX5 Cup, OK Cup, SF and RS classes. Now, the next step is the E46:

"My new challenge is the BMW E46 and my goal is to compete hard, fast and fair at the highest level, to keep learning and be a great ambassador to my sponsors and supporters."

This weekend I sat out the last round with other testing and priorities in my racing. Still happy to come out Top 10 finish with a couple of DNFs from first round and not competing in the last round.

BMW Race Driver Series E46 Scholarship Day Hampton Downs

On the weekend I took part in this years BMW Race Driver Scholarship. It was a great opportunity for myself also the youngest to learn on and off track in a BMW E46.

👉My day started with driving the Jeep on track with Mum and Dad to get a feel for the driving lines - Im not sure why they both kept telling me to slow down🤷‍♂️ I only went over 150km a few times!!
👉Next was hots laps with Angus Fogg, then driver assessment.
👉After making it into the Top 10, we then had more driving assessment of driver development potential, a panel interview😬 and a behind the scenes view of race control.

If there is any karters out there that are thinking of transitioning into car racing, the MX5 series is a great place to start. A friendly welcoming environment and relatively inexpensive. Manawatu Car Club run a good series and there safety volunteers (VForce) are fantastic!
