✨ Mānawatia a Matariki ✨
What an amazing two weeks we have had celebrating Matariki with our tamariki, whānau and community. We celebrated with two incredible whānau nights last week, coming together to share laughter, love and a good kanikani 💃🏻🕺🏻
We also performed and enjoyed watching the Matariki celebration at our local Matamata College, we are always honoured to join them each year for this.
This week was filled with many activities, kōrero and waiata about Matariki and what it means to us. We finished off with a bubble show to send bubbles to above, hoping that it reaches those who have past, our shining stars ✨🤍
🤍STAFF MIDWINTER🤍
Every year the team gets together for a surprise getaway, and typically themed dress up. This year was the letter ‘P’ and there was a Pupil, a Pirate, Pink Ladies, a Pig, a Personal Trainer, a Prince, and the Prince of Darkness.. just to name a few!
We headed to OffRoadNZ in Rotorua to do some 4x4 driving (listen to a sneak of inside Karen/Pregnant Nun and Pink Pony/Lou’s vehicle 😂), clay bird shooting where Ash P/Pikachu absolutely cleaned up and Go Carting where Janice/President Trump took away the fastest time.
We then headed into town for an express resource shop before heading to an escape room, a perfect place for our Plumber Holly to nap 🤭
We wrapped up back at the local Redoubt where we had a final game of guess the baby between staff, and a surprise baby announcement 🤩
Thanks again team Small Steps, we love celebrating you all! 💕

Graduations are incredibly special here at Small Steps, as we celebrate the individual child and the incredible growth we’ve been able to share with them. This month we have a lot to celebrate!🌿
Today, marks a very special day in the Small Steps family. Our Kaiako Nicole has her own daughter Arlo graduating. How lucky we have been to have watched Arlo grow from a wee under one, to now a glorious five year old! 🥹
Happy school years Arlo, we will miss seeing you each day! 🤍

💫RARE OPPORTUNITY💫
We are seeking our next registered educator who is requiring part time work 2/3days a week, or school hours 8:30-2:30. This opportunity doesn't come around often, so we are excited to be able to advertise this to our wider community. During our interview process, we will discuss with you what is best for you and your whānau and how we can make it work!
If you are ready for a change, and excited for a new opportunity, email me your CV to [email protected]
We can't wait to hear from you! 🤩

As we grow and learn within the Small Steps environment, we embrace the opportunities we get to celebrate growth within our wider community as well. We have watched this process from the ground up. With regular walks to share matamata's excitement of the stages of progress.
We celebrate this because for the tamariki we have had, currently treasure and are yet to enjoy, this facility will bring about opportunities for years to come, and the history of this build will live on in future generations.
The day finally come when we had the privilege of entering the through invite to join Lynaire Williams, Matamata College Manaaki class for some games. A reflection of tuakana-teina and the beginning of a journey creating memories within these four walls.
How lucky is our community to have a facility like this 😁
