HULL PHONE BOX – A TOTEM OF REBELLION

Hull’s cream-coloured public telephone boxes stand apart from the traditional red ones found across the rest of the UK. They have become a symbol of the city’s fiercely independent character. This dates back to 1902, when Hull Corporation established its own municipal telephone network, making Hull the only UK city never served by the national provider. A reminder that Hull has always done things differently!
