🏅Creation Signs Official of the Year 🏅

A huge congratulations to the outstanding officials recognised in this year’s Creation Signs Official of the Year category at the ILT Southland Sports Awards.

🌟 Winner – Nicky McNaught (squash)
An incredible year on the international and domestic stage, Nicky was one of just two female referees selected for the World Games in Chengdu, China. She officiated 21 matches, including the Women’s Gold Medal match
Closer to home, Nicky refereed at the Auckland Open, South Island Open, and capped it off with the Men’s Final at the NZ Championships. Her impact goes beyond the court, mentoring officials and athletes, while also being recognised globally as a World Squash official appraiser and nationally as Squash NZ Director of Refereeing.

⭐ Distinction Award – Erin Criglington (cycling)
Erin continues to shine on the world stage, officiating at the highest level across the 2025–2026 season. Her standout achievements include being an Assistant Starter at the 2025 UCI Track World Championships (Chile), Commissaire Secretary at the 2026 Oceania Track Championships, UCI-appointed Starter at the 2026 UCI Track World Cup (Perth), UCI’s top official at the 2025 Austral Wheel Race, Technical Delegate & Starter at the 2026 NZ Track National Championships and Lead official at the 2026 NZ Madison & Omnium Championships.

Sending oodles of good luck to our talented crew member Sean as he prepares to compete in the New Zealand Sign & Display Association (Incorporated) Signee of the Year competition this Friday.

He will be battling it out against seven other signees aged under 30 from around the country, competing head-to-head across a series of timed signage tasks.

Our 5th Young Signee of the Year Competitor is Southlands very own Sean Withington from Creation Signs! 👏

In just 11 days, Sean will take on seven other young signees in a battle of skill, speed, and creativity at the 2026 Young Signee of the Year competition.

Come along to the Sign & Print Expo to see the action live and watch the winner take their crown!

Our Creation crew recently transformed this wicked Jeep Wrangler for the Southern Institute of Technology, applying custom digital prints to the bonnet and spare tyre cover for a striking finished look.

Starting with the client's design concept, our graphics guru Bradley redrew the artwork to ensure it was perfectly suited for large-format printing and vehicle application.

To achieve a seamless finish, we printed the graphics onto a metallic silver material, carefully matched to the Jeep's metallic paintwork. The result is a bold, professional look that integrates beautifully with the vehicle rather than looking like an afterthought.

Great work by the team bringing this project to life! Keep an eye out for it around the south!

Our talented Sean is set to showcase his awesome skills against other signwriting young guns!

Sean has officially made the final 8 for the inaugural New Zealand Sign & Display Association (Incorporated) Young Signee of the Year (YSOTY) competition and will represent us proudly at the NZ Sign and Print Expo.

Competitors from across New Zealand will battle it out live in a series of practical signmaking challenges, competing for:

📍 Auckland Showgrounds�🗓 Friday 19 June

Our Creation crew supplied Mana Charters Bluff with flash new hoodies, designed in-house and printed using our Direct-To-Film (DTF) garment printer.

Mana Charters boss Shane provided a sketch drawing for the skull graphic on the back and our talented team turned it into reality. ☠️

In a world of digital everything, there’s still something special about a brush and a steady hand.

Our hand-painting maestro Nathan brought some old-school craftsmanship to life on the Baz Janssen Building truck with traditional hand-painted signage at our workshop this week.

Long before large-format printers, this was how it was done – real and authentic. Every stroke done by hand. No shortcuts. Just years of experience to hone skill, patience and precision.

It’s pretty cool to still see the art of signwriting still making an impact. Let’s face it, some traditions are too good to lose.
