Nine wins. Two national titles. One huge weekend for Jackson Slater. 🏁

The eight-year-old from Huntly doubled up at the 2026 NZ Mini Motocross Nationals in Tokoroa, while Royce Bush claimed his first national crown and Mia Manston won the event’s first dedicated girls’ class.

Nearly 200 young riders lined up for two days of racing—and there was plenty of Kiwi talent on show.

Well, this turned out rather nicely… 👀

Spain’s Tamarit Motorcycles has won the Triumph Originals 2026 global custom competition with this heavily reworked Scrambler 400 XC.

The desert-racer-inspired build took 33% of the public vote and also came out on top with the international judging panel, beating custom Triumphs from six other countries.

Not bad considering there’s still a humble 400 XC underneath it all.

Ducati has gone pretty much all-in with the new Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour.

You get the 170hp V4 Granturismo, radar with adaptive cruise and blind-spot detection, 60 litres of panniers, semi-active Skyhook suspension, heated grips and seats, automatic lowering… even a rear fog light.

And while the NZ price of $52,793 might sound a little steep, there’s not much left to add before heading off on a fairly serious road trip.

BMW has taken the cracking little 420cc twin from the F 450 GS, put it into a 175kg naked bike on 17-inch wheels and called it the F 450 R.

We’ve only just ridden the new GS and came away pretty impressed with the engine, so putting it into a lighter, road-focused package makes plenty of sense.

48hp, 43Nm, 175kg and a bit of S 1000 R attitude.

We’d quite like a go.

The 20-year-old is back in the gym and targeting the Australian Grand Prix on October 23–25, with recovery progressing better than he expected.

20 YEARS OF THE BURT

Dates are locked in for the 2027 Burt Munro Challenge – and next year is going to be a special one.

The Burt returns to Southland from February 10–14, celebrating its 20th anniversary, while the Southland Motorcycle Club marks an incredible 100 years.

There’s also a new BEARS Trophy Series, plus the usual mix of beach racing, speedway, hill climbs, drag racing and Teretonga action.

More than 160 young racers, aged from just four to 11, will line up for the 2026 New Zealand Mini Motocross Nationals this weekend.

And this is an event worth watching. Jett and Hunter Lawrence, Josiah Natzke, Maximus Purvis and Cole Davies are among the names who raced the NZ Mini Motocross Nationals on their way to bigger things.

So who’ll be the next one to make their mark?
