We loved seeing students, parents, and teachers discover that manufacturing is all about hands-on skills, cool tech, and real opportunities (not just “cutting metal”!). The Earn as You Learn programme is opening doors for the next generation to jump straight from school into awesome, paid learning adventures.

Join a team where quality meets craftsmanship! Stainless Design is on the hunt for a skilled Carbon Steel Fabricator Welder to join our busy Hamilton workshop. If you’re experienced in MIG welding and carbon steel fabrication (bonus if you know stainless or aluminium too), this could be the perfect fit.

🕕 Hours: Monday to Friday, 6am – 2:30pm
📍 Location: Hamilton, Waikato
👨‍🏭 Type: Full-time, permanent

You’ll be working across a variety of interesting projects with a great crew, modern gear, and plenty of opportunity to grow.

Meet Phil and Craig—two of our amazing team members who started their apprenticeships together in 1981! Back then, Phil was training as a fitter turner and Craig as a fitter welder. Today, 43 years later, their journey has come full circle as they work side by side once again.

🎉Congratulations to Joseph on completing his Fabrication apprenticeship! 🎉

Here are our top 3 suggestions this month:

1️⃣ Scotty – Convert an unused steel table into a straightening table with custom attachments to safely fix weld distortion on fabricated assemblies. A simple, cost-effective solution that improves both speed and quality.
2️⃣ Matt – Add pallet size details to the dispatch email, giving customers clear visibility on how their parts are packed. A simple step for better communication and customer satisfaction.
3️⃣ Mohammad – Include the PO number and creation date on offcut labels to improve traceability and speed up the process of locating materials in the tube area. A small change that makes a big difference in efficiency.
