‘It’s about time’: Hamilton welcomes ‘perfect’ new bridge 04/09/2024

Wow! The new bridge looks amazing, and it is so good to see so many people out walking and cycling on it before it is put to work.

We particularly liked the photo in this Waikato Times article by Mark Taylor showing how close Peacocke is to the bridge, and thus how close Amberfield is to central Hamilton...

Hamilton’s built a bridge... and you can get over it very soon 18/08/2024

It's great to see the new bridge is soon to open! It really looks like a beauty, both in terms of its form and its function, connecting and opening up the Peacocke area as part of Hamilton’s bright and growing future.

Don’t forget to take up the opportunity to walk the bridge on Saturday 31st August, before traffic is allowed onto it. It will be something you’ll remember for years to come...

Gully bridges lifted into place for Peacocke 22/04/2024

Bikes on pipes! The infrastructure keeps on coming for Peacocke, bridging the gap to a great future for the people who will live in the area.

As this article in the Waikato Times has revealed, two bridges have now been lifted into place across the Mangakotukutuku Gully. Not only will the bridges carry wastewater pipes under the bridge decks, but they also form a future off-road shared pathway for Peacocke walkers and cyclists.

When complete, the bridges will be another part of the network that will connect Peacocke and the city centre via existing river paths, enabling people to travel in and out of the city.

A giant green tank and one heck of a force 27/03/2024

It was great to see this story in the Waikato Times that revealed another key piece of enabling infrastructure is going online for the Peacocke area, which includes Amberfield.

A new 1.5 million litre wastewater tank is part of Hamilton’s new and biggest wastewater transfer station in Peacocke. It was officially opened on 25 March, blessed by mana whenua.

The first homes in the Peacocke catchment will be connected to the transfer station in May.

Hamilton neighbourhood set up to deal with climate challenges 19/03/2023

Peacocke recognised as 'the gold standard' of development:

Great to see this article in the NZ Herald on plans for the Peacocke neighbourhood, talking about how planning is the ‘gold standard’ for this community, enabling ‘high quality urban development which at the same time restores and enhances the natural environment’.

Quotes in the article that really stood out for us also included:
“A planned, resilient community that enhances the natural environment and provides for higher-density housing near the central city. Peacocke represents best practice in urban design and ecological outcomes.”

“Council had a head start and is already delivering many of the enabling pieces of infrastructure in this plan through the construction of a new river bridge and arterial roads that run through Peacocke. These will be reaching completion late 2023, in time for housing development to get under way.”

Hamilton section of Waikato Expressway open to traffic 08/08/2022

It’s been great to see the recent media coverage of the opening of the Hamilton section of the Waikato Expressway.
After years of planning and construction work, the entire expressway upgrade is now open, improving connectivity and journey times throughout the Waikato region.
The best news for Amberfield however is that the final 22-kilometre section of Waikato Expressway shaves roughly another 20 minutes off travel times between Auckland through to southern Hamilton and Cambridge. This latest stretch makes Amberfield and the wider Peacocke region even more accessible to people - underscoring Amberfield’s nature as a connected and welcoming place of new growth.
