World MS Day - Saturday 30th May
World MS Day is an international awareness day for everyone affected by multiple sclerosis. It is a day of global solidarity, collective action and hope.
The cause of MS is still unknown, but it affects 1 in every 1000, with women 3 times as likely to be affected than men. MS Waikato are providing support services to 321 MS clients and their families.

Ahead of World MS Day, the MS International Federation has launched MS Symptoms and Diagnosis, a special World MS Day edition of the award winning Understanding MS programme, developed by the Menzies Institute for Medical Research in collaboration with MSIF.
It is designed for healthcare professionals, people living with MS, family members, carers, educators, and anyone with an interest in MS.

The Michael Ford Memorial Golf Tournament

The Michael Ford Golf Tournament
If you enjoy a game of golf, our annual tournament is taking place on Friday and we now have availability for one extra team to join us, plus space for an individual in another team. The tournament is open to both registered and casual players.
It is taking place at Ngahinepouri golf club from 10am, its a Stableford tournament playing 18 holes. The day includes morning tea, sausage sizzle and soft drink on the course. We have been donated some fantastic prizes and the weather forecast looks great.

HDYO NZ are organising a camp in Queenstown, May 2026 for youth impacted by Huntington's Disease. MS Waikato have clients registered to attend.
To help make this possible, Steph from HDYO is aiming to raise $5,000 by running 'Round the Bays', a half marathon in March.

The Michael Ford Golf Tournament
Our annual golf tournament is taking place at Ngahinepouri Golf club on Friday 20th March.
If you would like to join us for the day, registrations are now being taken.
The event includes morning tea, a sausage sizzle and soft drink on the course. This is a Stableford tournament, it is a fun day out and is open to players of all abilities with a great range of prizes to be won. Entry is $50pp.
We are also seeking individuals or organisations who may be interested in sponsoring the event, and hopefully joining us on the day too. We offer a wide range of sponsorship options. Platinum and gold sponsorships both include hole sponsorship and team entry. All funds raised will remain in our region to assist with the provision of support services for those affected by Multiple Sclerosis or Huntington’s Disease.

From the 1st February, the maximum prescription length will increase from 3 months to 12 months.
Government u-turns on prescription co-payment fees People will now only need to pay a $5 fee once for new, 12-month prescriptions.
