The Kōwhai Tree: More than just a beauty!
Beyond its medicinal uses, the Māori valued kōwhai for timber, tools, and vibrant yellow dye from its flowers and seeds. 🌿 It was also a tohu (sign) in the maramataka, signaling the right time to plant kūmara and harvest kina & tipa.
