Not long to go now!!!
Biz biz busy putting etchings into frames etc etc.
Opening Friday 27th September 5:30pm at artspost.

Why wildflowers you may have wondered?! 😂

Always one for collecting foliage, early last year I started a bit of a collection of wildflowers from the side of the road...got me thinking...and drawing...and dabbling...and sketching wild types of flowers in vases.
Made the etchings on zinc plate and then printed the etchings onto mulberry paper.
Then, a bit of a tricky job, I inserted the completed print into a bamboo embroidery hoop.

Here are some images of the first sketch I did, and then how I printed the etching.

Thanks again for following and viewing.

It's been such fun figuring out how to best portray wildflowers using an array of the etching techniques and processes I have learned over the past 21 years.

There are 7 wildflower heart etchings...
Below are a few images. They need to dry completely before I edition them.

Also in the exhibition will be 8 drawings of bowls line etched onto the zinc plate and that have then had dried wildflowers imprinted onto the plate using the soft ground process. 1 large, 3 medium, 4 small.
There are also a few image examples below... bowls from my china cabinet!

But wait there's more!
I have also produced other etchings printed on mulberry paper and inserted into bamboo embroidery hoops... turned out quite beautiful haha...will post a couple of those images next week.
Thanks so much for following me.

A week of many trial proofs of my key etching for the exhibition!! Decided to try warmish colours...
Settled on the Cranfield Gold ink

Then to get a softer image, I printed the plate a second time without re inking. The ghost print.

Wait there's more...

I cleaned the plate and inked it up with Charbonnel black ink and decided to try printing it on the rotated ghost print

SERENDIPITY!!!!! - "making desirable discoveries by chance, fluke" 😂

What an amazing unexpected result... so pleased.

I have finally completed the creation of the zinc plates for the show so now it's print print print to achieve the colour combos that work!
Over the next couple of weeks I'll post some of the results 😂🌼

Attached are a few of the completed plates...
The oblong zinc plate was created with a number of printmaking techniques... line etch, aquatint, open bite.

The wildflower hearts, also created with zinc plate and nitric acid, were cut out once completed.

Images to come... what fun!
