I’ve been getting a few messages asking how to compete with new cleaners charging less, and the simple answer is, you don’t.

A legitimate, full time business shouldn’t be competing with a side hustle that isn’t operating the same way. That’s two completely different models.

New cleaners have popped up in my area, and all I can do is hope they’re properly insured and paying the appropriate local, state, and federal taxes. If they aren’t, that’s not my business.

My clients know I do this full time. I show up because this is how I pay my bills. They know that if something is damaged, I have the insurance and resources to fix or replace it. That is how you market yourself, by running a legitimate business.

A couple of years from now, when those underpriced services realize they aren’t charging enough to stay afloat and need to raise their rates, the cycle will repeat itself.
