School Kit
because teachers are awesome.
22/03/2026
Hi. We've been a bit quiet on here.
School Kit has been busy behind the scenes - building things, launching things, learning things - and somewhere along the way we forgot to bring you along for the ride.
That changes now.
If you're new here: School Kit is New Zealand's largest teacher community. We exist because we believe teachers deserve better - better resources, better professional learning, and better connection with each other.
Right now we're really excited about something we've been building with the brilliant Lizzie Bayliss and the everyday. journal - we call it The Everyday Collective and it's for the teachers who are still curious, still committed, and still treating teaching as the craft it is.
We call them the 10%. You probably know one. We're pretty sure you are one.
The Everyday Collective is simple
🧠 ten expert-led online sessions with leading voices in NZ education,
💼 full replays, weekly resources, and
💌 a teacher community quietly, stubbornly committed to their craft.
The price is $150 for the year.
That's $15 per expert session. And the journal, delivered to your door.
For context — a single external PD day typically costs a school $500–$800 per teacher once you factor in relievers and travel. This solution gives you access to a host of top thinkers without having to leave the couch.
This is $150 all up. Self-funded. No release day needed. No convincing anyone.

Over the coming weeks we'll be sharing more about what we're up to, who we're working with, and why we still think teaching in Aotearoa is worth fighting for.
Good to be back. 💛
The Everyday Collective Curious teachers, ten expert sessions, our journal and educators who refuse to settle. Join the 10%. Grow everyday.

There is so much in this article for us, as teachers, to reflect on.
Making sure our students see themselves in the content we deliver and the curriculum we design is so important.
But also... the powerful, impactful, life changing contribution ‘that teacher’ can make....
“for being such an amazing English teacher and having so much passion for teaching Shakespeare. I completely owe my love of language to those class lessons in Year 12 and 13 analysing metaphor and symbolism and imagery, and I hope all your future students realise how lucky they are to have you as a teacher”
