The “wet paper towel test” for fleas. 🧪🐾

One of the simplest ways to confirm flea dirt is with a wet paper towel - a bit of vet detective work using everyday household supplies.

If the black specks from your pet's coat turn into a reddish-brown smear when wet, it confirms the presence of digested blood... meaning flea dirt.

In other words: yep, those specks are officially flea poo. 😬

P.s. just because it's winter doesn't mean fleas are hibernating. We diagnosed fleas on a cat just last week! 🐱

A little friendly visitor turned up to “help” the team with a calving today, but she doesn’t belong to the farmer. 😺

She’s a little underweight, so she may be missing her family. She doesn’t have a microchip, and we’re on the hunt for her owners.

We welcomed both talented new graduate mixed vets to the Anexa team in February. Charlotte is based between Gordonton and Ngāruawāhia, and Izzy joined the Morrinsville clinic.
From scholarship achievements to a love of goats, painting, the outdoors, and caring for animals big and small, these two are already bringing so much enthusiasm and passion to the team.
We’re incredibly proud to support the next generation of veterinarians and can’t wait to see Charlotte and Izzy grow in their careers and become familiar faces within our clinics. 💚🩷

Our team will be taking a royal paws on Monday 1 June, but we'll be back with the royal treatment on Tuesday.
