Last week we celebrated several Long Service achievements. Not to be taken lightly we wanted to individually share their achievement, dedication and celebrate what they have given to HRT Andrews and HWR….

Steve Briggs

Steve started his journey back on the 9th of January 2006 with SouthRoads.
Steve stayed mainly in the one division being maintenance - apart from a small stint where he worked for the construction division based in Invercargill, rather than Lumsden

His role once he moved back to the Maintenance Division included carting a 13t digger all over Southland doing all sorts for jobs like water channel cleaning, installing culverts, installing gabion baskets, and rock protection on rivers along with dropping tree’s. He was often up to his Knees or deeper in mud over the winter months but just got stuck in and got on with it.

Over two decades, Steve has been a reliable and steady presence — someone who turns up, gets the job done, and contributes to the team without fuss. That kind of consistency is something every organisation relies on, and it doesn’t go unnoticed.
Now Steve has seen the light and moved over to the rural sector for some new challenges.

Reaching 20 years is a huge achievement, and it reflects not just time served, but dedication, resilience, and a strong work ethic.
Congratulations on the milestone — and we’re looking forward to seeing what the next chapter brings….

5-Year Long Service Speech – Ricky Young

Ricky Started in May 2021 as a spreader driver.

Five years might go quickly when you’re busy, but it represents a solid stretch of commitment, reliability, and showing up day in, day out. With a V in one hand and a pie in the other, over that time, Ricky has become a dependable part of the team.

As a Sower driver, consistency matters. It’s not about big moments — it’s about doing the basics well, staying steady under pressure, and getting the work done. That’s where Ricky has made his mark.

We appreciate the effort, attitude, and contribution Ricky has made over these past five years.
We thank Ricky for his service and dedication — and congratulating him on his 5-year milestone.

10-Year Service, Darryn Turner

Darryn first started in the industry back in March 2005 with Allied in Invercargill, before moving around — Wanaka, back to Invercargill, then Gore, Ashburton…and back to Gore. Safe to say he’s done a few miles along the way.

Darryn became Plant Supervisor here in Gore in 2020, and playing his part through the transition into the HRT/Allied joint venture we’re part of today.
Across that time, what really stands out is Darryn’s commitment — not just to the job, but to the people, the operation, and getting things done. He’s seen plenty of change, adapted to it, and continued to show up and deliver.
And while the official record might say 10 years, when you add it all together, he’s clocked up over two decades in the industry — which says a lot about his experience and the value he brings every day.
Darryn, your contribution hasn’t gone unnoticed. Your experience, reliability, and the role you play in keeping things running smoothly are genuinely appreciated.
Well done and thank you, on 10 consecutive years service. 🙌

Anthony Heaps. 5 year service.

Anthony started here with just his car license, We soon had him on a course to gain his class 2 and he began driving our little flea and washing out crates doing late nights and early mornings. That humble start was just the beginning.

From that small truck, he moved up pretty quickly to driving one of our class 5 units. That was a big step up, and Anthony handled it with the same dedication and skill.

It’s awesome to see that progression, from the little flea truck to the trucks we’ve got now, and Anthony has been right there through it all, learning and getting better every step of the way.

What’s really stood out over these five years is not just the driving skills, but Anthony’s work ethic, reliability, and his great attitude. He’s the kind of guy everyone trusts to get the job done.

So here’s to Anthony — thanks for sticking with us, for all your hard work,
Congratulations on five years.

Vaughan Greig - 20 years Service.

Vaughan started driving later than some, with other things being ventured before turning his hand to the wheel. He was in hospitality for over 20 years. He managed the THC in Te Anau and Milford.

It was to our benefit that Vaughan brought those hospitality and management skills with him to Andrews. His list of skills are long and growing….he can drive across all divisions, dispatch, problem solve and is always looking to improve. His attention to detail is second to none.

Vaughan started in the rural transport game in 2006 at Te Anau bulk. In 2014 it changed hands and became Te Anau Haulage. It was a small operation and Vaughan turned his hand to all aspects of rural trucking, Stock, sowing, bulk and maintaining gear. A rare quality that we are seeing less of today.

In 2021, Vaughan started his time with Andrews Transport. Across the various transports Vaughan has clocked up the 20 years in total.

Vaughan we are thankful for all your hard work and tireless energy you have put into your roll. You lead by example and never shy away from a challenge. The team has benefited from the skills you have.
