A week on from DZINDRA at Toitoi - Hawke's Bay Arts & Events Centre and what a special night it was 🎷
Huge thanks to everyone who joined us for the show, and to Thabani Gapara and the incredible band for bringing such powerful musicianship, storytelling and connection with our Hawke’s Bay audience.

A special thank you as well to Morgan Dysart from Muzic.NZ for capturing the night so beautifully, and to Rob Harbers from Libel Music Australia & New Zealand for his generous words and continued support of live music and the artists behind it.
Moments like this are a reminder of how lucky we are to experience world-class live music here in Hawke’s Bay 🎶
As we head into the final weekend of NZ Music Month, get out there and support something live - good for the ears and good for the soul.

Tomorrow night! 🎷
Internationally acclaimed saxophonist & composer Thabani Gapara brings DZINDZA to Toitoi - Hawke's Bay Arts & Events Centre - for an intimate and immersive live performance blending jazz, storytelling, rhythm and cultural connection.
We absolutely loved having Thabani & the band perform at last years Jazz In The Park at Church Road Winery, but DZINDZA invites audiences into something even more intimate. More immersive, more reflective, and written to draw audiences into the stories and journey behind the music.
With May marking both Africa Month and NZ Music Month, this feels like a special night to gather, connect and celebrate the way music brings people together. We would love to see you there.
Tickets are still available from eventfinda or the venue 🎶
One week to go 🎷 Next Friday 22 May, Thabani Gapara brings DZINDRA to Toitoi - Hawke’s Bay Arts & Events Centre - a live performance that brings jazz, storytelling, and something especially immersive.
If you caught him at Jazz in the Park Church Road, you’ll already know the energy Thabani and his incredible band bring to a space. With a sound that draws on Afrobeat, Highlife, Mbaqanga, and Mbira – woven together with influences of funk, soul, and Zouk – Gapara creates music that feels both deeply rooted and joyfully contemporary.
Its NZ Music Month. And Africa Month. So if it’s been on your radar, this is your sign to lock it in. Tickets are still available and we can't wait to see you there🎶

NZ Music Month has a special way of bringing people together. A familiar music venue, a packed dancefloor, a quiet songwriter moment, running into old friends between sets, discovering someone new you can’t stop listening to afterwards.
We are halfway through NZ Music Month, and Hawke’s Bay is absolutely humming with live music right now 🎶
From community halls and intimate wine bar sessions through to big stage performances, there are still so many moments ahead worth showing up for.
Over the rest of NZ Music Month we’ll be sharing some of the artists, shows and people helping make our region’s music scene feel so alive - including a few special events still to come.
Meanwhile a quick mention - tomorrow night at Church Road Winery the HB Music Hub will be celebrating the launch of this years - Under The Sun Vol. 5 vinyl. I actually can't believe its been 5 years since the legendary Kevin Murphy got this idea off the ground - a chance for Hawkes Bay artists to have their songs put on vinyl (which is a pretty spesh thing). And a pretty epic series of compilations at that too (i have Vols. 1-4 on regular rotation at home). This is a free event and runs from 6pm - 8pm so if you want to come out and support the music community here in the Bay everyone is welcome. You may even get your hands on a complimentary copy of Vol 5.
