Photos from New Zealand Mānuka Group's post 28/05/2019

Our company is not just about making great products. We truely believe in building with the local communities and engaging in sustainable resource development.

New Zealand Mānuka Group has donated Manuka Mulch to a very special, Rare Native Planting Project at the Ohiwa Domain adjacent to the Te Mawhai Regional Park in Ohiwa. The Ohiwa Reserves Care Group is a local community group that loves plants as much as we do. They have planted 70 plants representing 12 rare and endangered species of East Cape, New Zealand.
Some of the plants are:
Kaka Beak Kowhai ngutu-kaka (Clianthus maximus) - Endangered Status: Nationally Critical
A few plants remain in the wild on the East Coast; mainly in Tolaga Bay, Anaura Bay and East Cape.
Sometimes available as a popular garden plant, but very vulnerable to rabbits, possums and slugs.

Giant-flowered broom (Carmichaelia williamsii) Endangered Status: Vulnerable
Only two sites remain in the Whitianga Bay area for this shrub. Has pea like flowers from July to December.

Thick-leaved tree daisy b(Olearia pachyphylla) Endangered Status: Nationally Critical
Only found on some headlands in Opape near Opotiki.

Thank you to Meg and Mike Collins from the Ohiwa Reserves Care Group for allowing us to contribute to this amazing project.
