Look at the LIM

If you’re looking at purchasing a section, it’s prudent to get a LIM report from the council. This should cover any erosion or flooding issues, storm water and sewage, heritage protection, building consents and permits, zoning and rates.

Lightbulb Moment

You choice of lightbulbs can have a big impact on the look and feel of a room, including the interior paint colours you choose. For example, standard ‘warm white’ bulbs will pick up and amplify yellow tones in white paint. If you want to avoid this, swap warm white bulbs for a ‘daylight’ or ‘cool white’ option.

If you’re about to update the flooring in your rental property, keep these tips in mind…
- Keep the style neutral so it appeals to the widest audience
- A carpet or vinyl with a speckled effect will help disguise spills and stains
- Taupes, browns and greys create a warm and inviting space and work with most home furnishings.
You don’t need to invest in top-of-the-range flooring, but it is worth choosing the most durable option you can afford.

Going potty in summer!

Unglazed clay pots are more porous than glazed or plastic pots and allow water to evaporate faster. This can be beneficial in wetter months, as it allows the soil to drain more efficiently. However, when the weather is warmer you might want to consider shifting them to a cooler part of your property to help them retain as much H2O as possible during the heat of the day. This is definitely worth doing if you’re going to be away for an extended period.
