Colder mornings, darker evenings and suddenly it feels easier to hit the snooze button or get into the pyjamas earlier at night.

Realising that you have to stop relying on motivation and start focusing on routine is the first step.
If you need a place to start, here’s what helps me:

– Same time each day
– Lower the bar (even a 10 minute round of body weight exercises or 20 minutes of yoga at home)
– Stack it onto a habit (think walk with your morning coffee)
– Focus on how you feel after (because there’s a high chance you’re going to feel good!)

Start small, stay consistent, and build a routine that becomes non-negotiable.

Winter wellness isn’t usually about one magic supplement or “immune hack” ❄️

For us as chiropractors, it’s more about supporting the nervous system and reducing overall stress on the body during a season where sickness, fatigue, poor sleep, and low energy tend to increase.

Here are some different winter wellness tools that may help support your immune system, nervous system, recovery, and overall health during the colder months.

From exercise and vitamin D to chiropractic adjustments and hot/cold therapy — these are some of the most common tools people use in practice to stay healthy, energised, and resilient through winter.

At Chiropractic First, we’re always looking at ways to better support the nervous system during winter when stress, fatigue, poor sleep, and sickness tend to increase.

Your immune system doesn’t work separately from your nervous system 🧠⚡️
Research is continuing to explore the connection between the nervous system, brain function, stress response, and immune system regulation.

This study by REFERENCE HERE looks at how chiropractic adjustments can correlate with better neurophysiological and autonomic nervous system activity — systems involved in how the body adapts to stress and regulates overall function. How this was measured was seeing the change in brain waves before and after a chiropractic adjustment. This was then compared to a ‘sham’ non-specific adjustment as a control.

So what it found was that noticeable improvements in autonomic nervous system function post a consistent dose of chiropractic adjustments. If you want more information on the study or any others please reach out.
