www.moonlighting.nz Polymer clay miniature food and plants, handmade in Auckland, New Zealand.
Sometimes polymer clay icing/frosting just looks so delicious! This is made with normal (solid) polymer clay, and liquid polymer clay - if you want to use the icing right away it's better to condition your clay before mixing in the liquid clay, but if you're not in a hurry it's much less effort to just leave it to sit overnight to soften. But you still can't eat it.

Making miniature kitchen knives out of a metal lid and a toothpick.
One of the biggest challenges to making these is finding the right metal for the blades - it's thicker than a soft drink can, but thinner than the lid of a tin. This lid came from some Japanese peanuts which I bought at a local Asian supermarket earlier in the year - the metal looked too useful to throw away and it turns out I was right. Sometimes hoarding pays off...
These knives are sharp enough to stab into fruit or balsa wood, but not sharp enough for any real cooking. However the tools used to make them are sharp, as is the raw edge of the cut metal, so this particular craft isn't suitable for children.

Whoops, might have left these lemons a bit long...
No real mould, just polymer clay and paint, inspired by Kathleen Ryan's beautiful beaded 'Bad Fruit' sculptures, and by the less beautiful experience of finding a couple of mouldy limes in the kitchen recently!
I've made a bunch of miniature kitchen knives recently, and I'll admit they're not super functional, but they do work a little bit! Would you like a tutorial?

A little basket of white spring flowers, with a tiny nest. I can't decide which eggs to use - what colour do you think looks best?
