Canola meal is proving to be a practical and valuable protein source for Australian dairy farmers.
Locally produced and supported by a stable supply chain, canola meal can help reduce reliance on imported soybean meal while delivering strong nutritional value for dairy cows.
Its amino acid profile closely supports milk protein production, and research reviewed by Redox Animal Nutritionists suggests higher canola meal inclusion can support increased milk yield while helping reduce daily methane emissions.
When combined with fibrolytic enzymes, canola meal may offer further benefits in high-forage and pasture-based dairy systems by improving fibre digestion and helping cows unlock more energy from their feed.

For layer hens, lower-energy, lower-nutrient feed can reduce egg production if birds cannot eat enough to make up the difference. That means weaker performance, poorer feed efficiency and lower returns.
Our latest article looks at why nutrient density still matters, and how smarter feed strategies can help protect production and profitability.
