Xavier Hart is an Auckland-based contemporary artist whose practice explores the intersection of painting and sculpture.

New work ~ Introducing ‘Patinate I’. 1000mm round on board.
My latest series draws inspiration from nature’s own transformative processes - Oxidation, patina, and mineral formation shape both its palette and tactile surface, creating an organic sense of evolution. A high-gloss resin finish amplifies the work’s depth, contrast, and texture, while (in the right light) casting water-like reflections onto nearby surfaces, extending the artwork beyond its frame and further immersing the viewer.

I’m thrilled to have my work hanging in New Zealand’s national stadium Eden Park and a part of the Eden Park Art Tour (in partnership with Art in the Park). My piece ‘Lantau’ sits amongst a mix of work by hugely talented artists from across the country.
