๐ŸŒ Cultural Fortnight in Full Swing ๐Ÿ˜

Throughout the week, learners have led and participated in a range of cultural workshops and activities.
Ms. EunHi Ko and student teacher Ms Kim led Korean culture and craft workshops, while Lucas hosted a Tagalog Language Workshop and cultural movie session.
Learners explored Scottish culture through a mini-golf activity led by Ben, Eddie, Tom, and Luca, and watched and learned a Malaysian dance with Ellaha, gaining an insight into Malaysian culture through movement and performance.

Cultural Dress Day has also had a fantastic turnout, with many learners proudly representing their cultures. It has been wonderful to see so much pride, celebration, and sharing of identity across the school! ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ

Last week, 32 of our Year 7 and 8 learners competed in the North Shore Mathex event. Teams of four were challenged to solve 20 complex problems within a strict 30-minute time limit. โฐ

Our Year 7 teams truly shone, beating the clock with 100% accuracy, with two of those teams placing an impressive 8th and 9th overall. Our Year 8s also showed incredible dedication right down to the final seconds; one team finished with a perfect score, and the others were hot on their heels.

It was a thrilling, fast-paced environment that pushed our students' problem-solving skills, teamwork, and ability to perform under pressure. Congratulations to all of our teams for your hard mahi! ๐Ÿ’ฏ

We had an exciting start to our new Unit of Inquiry - How the World Works!

To begin exploring our central idea, โ€œExploring the changes of matter allows us to understand our world,โ€ our learners took part in a dry ice investigation.

They explored how matter can change in surprising ways and discovered that it is much more complex than just solids, liquids, and gases. They observed dry ice (solid carbon dioxide) changing straight into a gas through a process called sublimation.

The experiment sparked lots of curiosity, questions, and conversations as learners made observations and began thinking about the many ways matter changes around us every day.

We canโ€™t wait to continue exploring and finding out more!
