First Light Birth Photography

Hello lovely people, I’ve been MIA for some time mostly because I’ve been putting off this announcement because it’s a tough one, I am no longer taking photography bookings and both First Light and Dilworth photography will be officially shutting down. Last year after 12 years of photography, amongst all the chaos of covid and as my youngest started school I decided it was time to be brave and embark on a new career path.

For the last 6 months of 2020 I went to uni and undertook a bridging course which has gained me entrance into a Bachelor of Science at The University of Auckland with the hopes of going on to pursue my dreams of post graduate study in forensic science. It’s not going to be easy studying with four kids and jobs in the forensics field are slim but I’m stubborn and I’ll get there eventually somehow 😂

So with that said, to the hundreds of First Light families over the years thank you for including me in your precious memories ! the thing I will miss the most is all of my amazing clients and the surreal and empowering experiences I got to document, it really was such a privilege. I will finish the year out with this amazing home birth, Grandma saying a quiet prayer or in the zone, Mama working so hard, Dad playing two roles, Sister quietly observing and Midwife patiently waiting for a peek of baby's head. Merry Christmas everyone ! this was what I was doing in the wee small hours of the 23rd of December, this birth was absolutely magical (featuring doggy doula Astro), wee Cleo made her appearance right on time, the amazing midwife was due to leave on holiday at 7am and she arrived with a few hours to spare 😍🎄Photo: First Light Birth Photography

I've been a bit quiet lately while we've awaited our own impending arrivals, have to say this is a first for me, puppy birth and finally got my en caul birth 😂 it totally counts right !

A week ago today holding our much longed and hoped for baby for the first time - nothing compares to this. At this point we didn't know this was our Ray-Ray we just knew they were here safe in my arms.

So much love in this room too with my amazing midwife , mother in law and hubby across from me. Incredible photo taken by the amazing Keri of who also captured many other timeless moments from the day our lives changed for ever 💙
