Who doesn't appreciate these chilly mornings? The sky is clear, the temperature is low, and the sun is shining bright. However, if you've installed a Lithium battery in your motorhome, there's a small snag. Despite your battery supplier's claim that the Lead Acid charger you have is perfect, charging at 14.4v, there's an important factor they overlooked. At 3 degrees outside, the temperature compensation kicks in, causing your Lithium batteries to charge at 15.5 volts. Unfortunately, this triggers the high voltage alarm on the Lithium BMS, resulting in a system shutdown. This happened this morning to someone in Twizel who was using SOK batteries and encountered the same issue. Even though the supplier assured them everything was fine and the lead-acid charger was a good brand and would do the job.
